How to Count Window Panes for a Window Cleaning Quote

A 'pane' is a single piece of glass surrounded by frame. A standard slider has 2 panes; a standard double-hung also has 2. French and divided-light windows count each small piece. Counting both sides (interior + exterior) doubles the number for full service.
Why pane count matters
Window cleaning is typically priced per pane because that's the unit of work. A 30-window home and a 60-window home can both look 'medium' from the curb but take very different amounts of time.
Knowing the count up front means a faster, more accurate quote and no surprise pricing on the day of service.
How to count common window types
Sliders
A standard slider has two panes — one fixed and one that slides. Count it as 2.
Double-hung
Two stacked panes that slide vertically. Count as 2.
Picture or fixed window
A single solid piece of glass. Count as 1.
French / divided light
Each small divided pane counts separately. A French door with 15 small lights = 15 panes per side.
Sliding glass doors
Two panes per door (fixed + slider). Big multi-panel doors are quoted individually.
Inside, outside, or both?
If you're getting interior + exterior service, the per-pane price covers both sides — you don't double the count. For exterior-only, only the outside is cleaned and priced accordingly.
Easier than counting: send photos
If counting feels like a chore, just text a few photos of the front, back, and sides of the home. We'll count for you and send a written quote. There's a Text Photos button on every page for exactly this.

Frequently asked questions
› Do screens, tracks, and sills cost extra?
Screens, tracks, and sills are included with interior + exterior service. Exterior-only doesn't include them by default.
› What about skylights and high atrium glass?
Skylights and atriums are quoted separately because they need different equipment and safety setup.
› Can I get a real quote without you visiting?
Most of the time, yes. Photos of each elevation plus a rough window count gives us enough to send a written quote.
